Fiona Price – Head of School and statutory member of the governing body

Having grown up locally, originally from Lincolnshire then moving to Caunton and later Ossington, I was appointed as a year 4 class teacher at Sutton-on-Trent Primary School in September 1994. This was my first teaching post, having just graduated from Bishop Grosseteste College.

During my time at Sutton I have taught across both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 and progressed through the roles of: key stage 2 co-ordinator, Deputy Headteacher, Specialist Leader of Education which involves facilitating the Early Career Development Programme for the Trent Valley Teaching School Alliance based at Tuxford Academy, as well as two periods of Acting Headteacher. My current role is Head of School and 2017 is my 14th year of being a school governor. During this time I have seen many changes and worked for two different headteachers as well as developed strong working partnerships with several headteachers within our family of schools.

I have wanted to be a teacher since being at primary school myself, and have had to overcome many challenges in order to achieve my goal. As I result I am committed to ensuring that every child is given the opportunity to achieve their full potential, through encountering a rich and varied range of experiences. Children are at the very heart of our school and I believe that education should be a memorable journey.

I am proud to be part of the team leading the school forward through its next chapter of school improvement. I am confident that we will achieve a positive outcome at our next inspection, ensuring that it remains a central and valued part of the local community.

My role on the governing body is to have a clear understanding of, and to communicate, the educational landscape and the performance of the school. This supports the governing body in their role of holding the senior leadership to account in order that improvements in standards can continue to rise.
