Rebecca Jackson – Parent Governor and Chair of Governors
Rebecca Jackson is a Local Authority governor and was appointed by the governing body on 16th March 2017 following 4 previous years of being a parent governor. From 27th April 2017 Rebecca has also been a co-opted governor at John Hunt Primary School.
Since moving to Sutton-On-Trent over 12 years ago with my family, I have welcomed the community spirit that the village offers. I truly believe that we are very fortunate in our village to have a range of facilities available to us and I am a strong believer in supporting local businesses and causes.
My working life started at the Ministry of Defence and then moved for many years into an operations management position for a company based in the North West. I specialised in overseeing the recruitment of engineering and distribution staff throughout the country and the management of several branches. After having my own children and wanting to be home-based, I got my degree and continued to work with children and families on a voluntary basis.
In my role as Chair of Governors at Sutton-On-Trent Primary School I am very passionate that all children should be given the best possible opportunities so that they can achieve their full potential. We should actively nurture and develop each child’s individual qualities and use the skills of our teaching and support staff to ensure a happy, healthy and supportive environment for our children to learn and excel. I have high expectations of everyone working with our children and believe that working in partnership with parents and carers is vital to the success of our children.
