The Governing Body at Sutton On Trent Primary and Nursery School is made up of governors from varied backgrounds, who all have a desire to make a positive contribution to the education of children at the school.  In this voluntary role, governors work with senior leaders to ensure that the school delivers a good quality education in a safe and nurturing environment. 

Governors' duties include:

• Ensuring the clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction of the school.
• Holding the Executive Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff.
• Setting the school budget, overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure that the money is well spent.

Governors meet each term as a Full Governing Body to make and monitor decisions relating to these duties, supporting and challenging the Headteacher as necessary.  They also attend termly committee meetings between the main governing body meeting.  There are two main committees, one that looks at the strategic direction of the school and pupils, and the other that looks at finance and staffing. Governors are members of either one or both of these committees.

Our Co-chairs of Governors are Anna Curtis and Liz Rees. They chair the Full Governing Body Meetings. Anna Curtis is also the Chair of our Finance and Staffing Committee and Tamsin Caputa is the Chair of our Strategic Development and Pupils Committee.
