Sutton-on-Trent Primary and Nursery School

Inclusive, Aspirational, Positive, Resilient, Supportive, Dedicated

At Sutton-on-Trent Primary and Nursery school we recognise the importance of high quality daily phonics teaching to provide firm foundations for the development of literacy skills. We use the letters and sounds overview to structure our phonics lessons, using Jolly Phonics and Phonics Play to support our teaching. Throughout Early Years and KS1, our children make consistently good progress with phonics ensuring they are ready to access high quality reading texts and transfer these skills into their writing as they move through school.
